Going from in-formal to formal for a dinner is not only creating more of a dramatic effect, BUT it also makes the food look better. I don’t know what it is about drinking water out of a crystal glass vs a regular water glass, but it just tastes better. This tablescape is about using your everyday tableware, linen-napkins , cutlery and spicing it up with crystal stem ware and a table cloth.
My personal go to for everyday dinnerware is Juliska Berry & Thread. It is relatively inexpensive, price point is anywhere from $20-$40 for dinner plates ( Subscribe to the Juliska Outlet Instagram & get the deal of the week EVERY week) . What I love most about the china set is that it is neutral and mixes well with other patterns from other companies. ( That isn’t always easy to find.)
Like going to any fine-dining experience you will always see a table cloth on the table, unlike the bbq place around the corner, eating with a tablecloth creates an ambiance immediately upon sitting down for the meal. With a so-called “busy” table runner, a white table cloth was the best option. The table runner is the same inspiration I had from my other post with this same set up for the “Host: Bright & Haute Tablescape (Informal)”. It is the Kate Spade Tablerunner called “Hopscotch” & for this extra long table of 120″ , the 72″ table runner was a beautiful edition in the center of the table. The flowers for the meal, are by no means a necessity but they do add a feminine flair and soften any tablescape. Roses are my go to for anything elegant. Personally I love to mix them with hydrangeas but for this scape I thought simpler is better.
The salad plate , Juliska Berry& Thread Scalloped Salad Plate, was a subdued replacement of the yellow sunflower bowl, because I wanted to tablescape to not feel overwhelming with so much going on. By using the navy linen napkin & keeping my roses simple and colorful the china needed to stay neutral. Roses were sponsored by Trader Joes, and vases are from a local florist, Hirni’s Wayside Garden.
Lastly, I am a LOVER for crystal ware like I said in the beginning. Everything seems to always taste better in a crystal glass. I always like to use my crystal, even if it is a “just because” meal. This set-up happened to be for my husbands birthday dinner, but regardless it is always a welcomed addition to ANY dining room table.
Bar cart was set up as a wine bar. Both types of wine came from Trader Joes & held up to their reputations. ONX Moon: Red Blend is a juicy super dense wine that has Blackberry, Black Cherry & Dark Chocolate Flavors ($7.99/bottle). Loma Negra Gran Reserva: Deep Golden Yellow, is described as juicy with a long finish ( $9.99/bottle). Sincerely couldn’t have had a better bang for the buck. Both bottles of red were gone with dinner, and the white was a delicious start to our evening, along with helping to finish the night off. Placemat is Kate Spade Hopscotch.
This tablescape is just to show how easy it is to go from informal to formal with a couple extra steps, but also to go from formal to informal, Host: Bright & Haute Tablescape (Informal).
