This past weekend we headed down to my parents' house in San Jose {after a much needed pit stop stop at In N Out for lunch}, and spent the rest of the afternoon around their outdoor table, sipping on champagne, catching up, and relaxing.  To celebrate my sweet momma's birthday, we prepared Dungeness crab rolls with homemade light brioche buns, a butter lettuce salad with grape tomatoes, avocados, feta and an herbal vinagrette, cornmeal crusted Vidalia onion rings and a fresh raspberry tart with lemon and vanilla scented pastry cream. 

It is going to be a big movie weekend, and I am appreciative for the time off to visit the theater. I finally saw a movie last week and it really made me realize how much I miss the theater-going experience. In addition to movies, I intend to re-watch the entire 3 seasons of Arrested Development, probably with dim sum leftovers within reach.

In the new book-to-film adaptation of The Great Gatsby, Daisy Buchanan wears this Tiffany & Co. sparkler, a piece that has all the drama and oppulence of F. Scott Fitzgerald's heroine. We spotted the flapper style at a New York screening of Baz Luhrmann's film and decided it would make for an even better accessory than a pair of 3D glasses!
