Crab Dip- Cold
8 oz. cream cheese ( temptee is my favorite)
4 oz sour cream ( I use friendship brand)
1/2 grated onion
paprika- use for color enhancement , a LITTLE goes ALONG way
Cayenne (red) pepper- a pinch ( depending on your crowd, my husband LOVES it with a little extra zest.)
1 can crab meat- (fresh crab meat is better)
Blend softened cream cheese with sour cream. Add onion and seasoning. Blend. Then add crab meat. Let it stand for 30 minutes and serve. Best with water or butter crackers. For a healthier alternative you can serve on cucumber, as pictured below , or use any raw cut up vegetable as well. When being served sprinkle dip with paprika for a little bit of color

I actually used to make a home made one , but have determined that it is ALOT more economical AND better tasting when I found this product, at all places Cosco, called Gold Coast Maine Lobster Dip. It is under $10 for 16 oz and IT FLIES at any party I host. You have two options serve it cold in a bowl with crackers and vegetables or as I like to do I heat it up for 10 minutes at @ 350 degrees, sprinkle parmesan on top with paprika and WOW!!!!
Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat; add the onions and 1/4 teaspoon of kosher salt. Cook and stir until the onions are caramelized to a nice golden brown, about 20 minutes. Remove the onions from the heat and cool. Mix together the sour cream, mayonnaise, garlic powder, white pepper, and remaining kosher salt. Stir in the onions when they are cool. Cover and refrigerate the dip for at least 2 hours before serving.
