WEDDING REGISTRY

ANONYMOUS ASKS:

WHAT ARE THE NECESSITIES FROM A WEDDING REGISTRY?

It’s funny the saying, ” when it rains, it pours” is  perfect description for me with this topic. In the past month I have been asked  by 3 different people, who have just got married or are about to get married, “what NECESSITIES do we all need from our  wedding registries?”

I am the type of person who likes to keep things simple, BUT this IS the one time in our life we are gifted THE more extravagant items, so why not make the most of it! I have compiled a list of necessary items that , in my opinion & experience, are things that we should keep on hand , no matter if you use them daily or just  once a year.

Fine China: ( Formal Dinner Events & for those that LOVE to eat formally)

  • Dinner Plates, Salad Plates, Dessert Plates, Soup Rim Bowls, Salad Bowls, Coffee Cups/Mugs, Coffee Cup plates- (8-12) ** I always get 12 + 1 = 13 so I have an extra one in case anything breaks.

  • Serving Platter Large (2), Vegetable Bowl (2)

  • Set of Serving Utensils

Every Day China:

  1. Dinner Plates ( 8)

  2. Salad Plates ( 8)- Great for lunch and for little kids to eat from “every day”.

  3. Cereal Bowls ( 8)

  4. Coffee Mugs (8)

  5. Serving Platter Large (1)

  6. Large Salad Bowl (1)

Bath:

Set of 4, minimum for each person , I personally like 6 so it allows me to have one for each day w/o having to do laundry. This is definitely a luxury as 2-4 is VERY DO ABLE.

  • Bath sheets or towels (4)

  • Hand Towels (4)

  • Wash Clothes (4)

  • Bath Mat (1-2)

Crystal Stemware: ( if this is too pricey; glass stemware is ALWAYS nice too…)

Crate & Barrel and Pottery Barn both have great selections of glass stemware. I have both in my house and I can tell you that I have NEVER used my crystal stemware to this day , except for our toasting flutes from our wedding when our daughter was born. Just saying!

  • Red Wine Glasses (12)* Not necessary if you already have the white wine glasses as they can be dual purpose, if need be.

  • White Wine Glasses (12)

  • Champagne Flutes (12/ 6 pairs)- Always nice to have on hand for special occasions; they are most often sold as a pair.

Bedding: ( Ideally 2 of each is great, in case of anything.)

  • Fitted Sheet (1)

  • Flat Sheet (1)

  • Blanket (1)

  • Comforter set or Duvet Set (1)

  • Pillow Holders (2)

Extra Bonus Necessity Items: ( If the budget allows)

  • Sterling/ Crystal Photo Frames ( 8×10(1)- wedding photo; 5×7 (2) & 4×6(2))

  • Vases Glass/Crystal

  • Table Clothes- By one for your table that is long enough for every day use & if you have a FULL house

Kitchen: ( Williams & Sonoma is a great place to get ideas, but Bed

Bath & Beyond is the place to purchase with the 20% off coupons; one item only)

  • Mixer ( Kitchen Aid is my favorite)

  • Blender

  • Toaster Oven

  • Coffee Maker ( if you don’t already have one)

  • Cuisinart Food Processor ( Buy the largest one you can 14 -17 cup)

  • Cutting Board

  • Cooking Knives

  • Measuring Cups ( All sizes makes life easier)

Those are the items I looked through and compiled as necessities. Good luck on this next adventure as getting married or just staying married take  A LOT of hard work!
