KEEPING FRESH

KEEPING FRESH…WHEN IT IS TOO HAUTE (HOT!)

Summer is almost over, but this heat isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. After much research and trial/error over the summer, I was searching for the “perfect” summer refreshing drink, besides just plan water. Well I found it! I nicknamed it the Meleni, get a play off of Bellini’s…LOL! My name is Melissa, but nicknamed by my dad Meleni when I was little and seeing as I am a pure water drinker, no sparkle, no lemon, JUST water, I found a compromise that makes even water look AMAZING! These fruit & herbal cubes make a beautiful addition to ANY drink adding flavor slowly! The flower cubes are a great way to keep things chilled.

Flower & Fruit Ice Cubes! These little beauties make ANY drink

HAUTE, adding a touch of   elegance.

Flower Cubes/ Fruit Cubes/ Herb Cubes

Any Flower makes a beautiful accent to the ice, even just the petals. Make sure to keep the flower small enough that it fits 1-3 per cube. Another important key to making these is to gently pour the water into the ice trays. You can do any shape for the cubes,
s
ometimes you have to think outside the box. Flower cubes are not to good for drinks but are GREAT for keeping champagne , wine , beer or any bottle chilled. Edible Flowers , pre-packaged, can be found at Whole Foods.

Fruit my favorites are, Raspberries & Strawberries( DELICIOUS with champagne), Blueberries, Mango ( amazing in a Margherita), limes are great in (hard liquor drinks; whiskey, bourbon).

Popular herbs are mint & Thyme. Mint Julep, Mojitos, and sometimes if you like the herbal taste through it in your water, it definitely freshens it up!

These are also great for kids parties, and you can take the same idea of a home made popsicle , use all sorts of fruit juices ( apple, orange, mango, guava, pear, peach, etc) and create cub

Make sure all fruit and herbs being frozen are washed first & clean. REMEMBER the ice does melt and this is going into your actual drink.

es. I have a separate post with the cubesicles being a highlight for kid parties.

Cheers! Hope you enjoy!
